I tried to sneak high grade fish oil into my cats food and he wouldn't touch it. Same with chicken bone broth instead of warm water. I haven't tried full canned sardines but I'm afraid he would do the same thing. I did manage to sneak in some pumpkin and marshmallow root to help soften his stool but goodness only knows how. He's really smart but he's turned up his nose at expensive diets too even though he usually loves chicken. No accounting for the tastes of a cat I suppose. I'm just grateful for the little things he has let me add.

If you’re introducing sardines, start with just a tiny piece placed off to the side of his usual food dish without pressure. You can freeze the rest in small portions so nothing goes to waste, and offer a little bit each day. It might take a few days, or even a couple of weeks, but most cats eventually get curious and realize how delicious it is.
Also, be mindful of your thoughts when offering something new. Try to hold the vision of him enjoying it. Your calm confidence helps create a sense of safety around the new food. If we’re thinking “he’s picky” or “he won’t eat this,” our animals often pick up on that energy. They trust us so deeply that if we seem unsure, they might wonder if something’s wrong. As long as you’re giving energy to the belief that he might not like it, he’ll believe it too. So think positive, stay patient, and trust the process.
Well hello Melissa. Thank you so much for replying to my note. Ypu appeared in my life at exactly the right moment. I am head over heals in love with Tails in a way I have never known before and I have loved animals all my life. We have been together about a year I think though he had been one of the herd before that. He was a summer kitten but no one can remember which summer. So I gave him my dads flag day birthday and I think he is going to be three. Not really sure what has made the difference. Maybe because I need him more. Maybe because he chose me and had to work at it a bit. I don't know but more on that later. I subscribed and I am going to go lay down with Mr Cat and try to digest your posts. I need a break anyway.
